About The Greatest 'Scapes

I began my fascination with gardening in Copley, Ohio, weeding for quarters at the age of eight. My teen years were spent at a local garden center, potting thousands of Jackson Perkins roses. As a freshman in high school, along with a buddy, I founded R&R Landscaping, carrying a push mower in the trunk of his dad's car.

While at the University of Akron, I built a successful maintenance business, but yearned to explore landscape design, so after graduation, I left R&R landscaping behind when I was accepted into the landscape architecture program at the Ohio State University.

 The highlight of my two years at OSU came when I had the opportunity to mentor under the head of Ameriflora, an international horticultural exhibition held in Columbus from 

April 20th through October 12th, 1992.

Returning to Akron, I founded JFR Designs, and in 1995 became a State-certified Master Gardener. Shortly after I was instrumental in the design and installation of a beautiful sensory garden at the local Hospice care center.

 I have always felt more within my element when designing, so in 2016 I updated the company name to reflect an emphasis on my passion; The Greatest 'Scapes was born.  A short time later I embraced technology and set aside the pens and pencils to offer a state-of-the-art experience to both my commercial and residential customers. 

I firmly believe the exterior of our homes is a visitors first impression of us, a link to and extension of, our indoor spaces. Both should be an outward expression of who we are.

 It is our sole goal to achieve the best potential each client

 and site has to offer.
